I am so enthralled to tell you about this new product because I don't know anyone, even those of you with perfect skin – who isn't on the lookout for a real pore minimiser. Let's face it, we've tried them all and to be honest there aren't any out there that make a big difference to the size of your pores no matter what they try to tell you, until now! After trying Idealist Pore Minimising Skin Refi nisher for one week, I can honestly say – this stuff is great! It doesn't make ground breaking changes to the size of your pores, but what it does do is give you an instantly smoother, more refi ned skin texture which actually has improved the look of my pores. To get the inside scoop on how and why this works so well we invited Dr. Daniel Maes, V.P. of Research & Development, Estée Lauder to explain how it works.

Firstly, what prompted you to launch the new Idealist Pore Minimising Skin Refi nisher? It was inspired by consumer feedback in the U.S. and Asia from women who were looking for a product that would improve skin texture, reducing the visibility of pores and also addressing loss of skin luminosity. Our R & D initiated a study on the morphology of the pores and the reasons why pores are so visible on the surface of the skin. These new scientific findings combined with our consumer feedback prompted us to start thinking about how we could apply this to a product. The result was Idealist Pore Minimising Skin Refi nisher, a revolutionary treatment serum designed to smooth and refi nish the skin, signifi cantly reducing the appearance of pores.

So what makes this different from the original Idealist? The original Idealist formula works mainly on the skin's surface reducing the visibility of the pores through an optical system which gives the illusion of reduced pore size. With the new Idealist Pore Minimising Skin Refinisher we have attacked the pore not only on the surface - by creating smoother, more evenskin, but also from inside the pore - utilising totally new pore minimising technology which results in a signifi cant reduction of the actual visible pore size.

You mentioned Serine Protease being a key component why? The skins natural exfoliation process is vital for healthy looking skin. We already know that glucosamine helps the skin to exfoliate but what we have now learned is that the skin's bonds, called desmosomes, contain the naturally occurring enzyme Serine Protease. This enzyme triggers the weakening of the desmosomes helping to speed new skin cells to skin's surface. We also know that Serine Protease is easily deactivated by disrupted pH levels and dehydration. Idealist Pore Minimising Skin Refi nisher reactivates optimal protease activity with chestnut extract without drying out the skin or disturbing the skin's natural pH levels.

What about the actual size and colour of the pores? Dark pores and blackheads are caused by a build up of dirt and sebum inside the pore. This build up appears darker as a result of accumulated dead skin cells inside the shaft of the pore and around the opening on the skin's surface. We also discovered that with age pores start to sag creating micro-shadows on the skin which make them appear even more visible. Idealist Pore Minimising Skin Refi nisher utilises technology which helps to eliminate the build up of material inside the pore (sebum, dirt, etc.), reducing the visibility of the pore and also its real dimension. When the pore is emptied of its contents it will naturally shrink, appearing less visible than before. In addition enhanced Non-Acid Technology combines a triple concentration of glucosamine (compared to the original Idealist formula) and a new skin smoothing ingredient, Chestnut Extract, which combine to help skin boost its natural desquamation process, eliminating dead skin cells.
The Chestnut Extract works to help unclog the darkened pores by loosening the dead skin cells, dirt etc. inside the pores, and releasing the excess sebum which may be left behind. This leads to a reduction in the overall size of the pore. Estée Lauder's unique Pore Diminishing Technology which includes the powerful anti-dilation ingredient NDGA – Nordihydraguaiaretic Acid. NDGA has been shown to reduce excess sebum production, helping to reduce the pressure on the wall of the pore shaft, and leads to a reduction in the overall size of the pore. This is not done at the additional cost of dryness. With a reduction of excess sebum within the pores, the walls contract, resulting in less visible pores.

How long will this take before a visible difference can be seen? Instantly skin will appear more even and refi ned. Within days you will start to see an intensifi ed smoother look.

So, you heard it from the expert, all you have to do is go out and try this, go get a sample. I have the worst skin and it has made a real visible difference, I can't imagine what it would do for someone with normal skin!
